UKIPO Launches Intelligence Gateway to Report IP Crime

The UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) has introduced the UKIPO IP crime reporting gateway—an advanced online platform to address intellectual property crimes, such as counterfeiting and IP infringement, across the UK.

Partnership Between UKIPO & PIPCU Enhances IP Crime Enforcement

Developed in partnership with the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU), the new UKIPO IP crime webform marks a significant step in the UKIPO enforcement initiative, streamlining intelligence submission and cooperation between UKIPO and PIPCU. The UKIPO intelligence gateway is designed to simplify the way IP rights holders, enforcement agents, and the public can report IP crime in the UK. With an improved intelligence submission process, the enforcement teams can better analyze and act on cases of IP theft and UK counterfeiting.

How to Use the UKIPO IP Crime Reporting Webform

The new UKIPO IP crime reporting webform has replaced the former PIPCU referral form. All IP crime intelligence and suspected counterfeit product reports submitted via the UKIPO website are now managed through the UKIPO Intelligence Gateway team, streamlining enforcement and follow-up.

Once intelligence submissions are received, the UKIPO Intelligence Gateway team—made up of trained intelligence officers and managers—will assess, prioritize, and determine whether further investigation or referral to a law enforcement agency is required. The enforcement process may involve further intelligence development, direct law enforcement referrals, or coordination through UKIPO financial investigators for complex IP crime cases.

UKIPO Intelligence Gateway Team & Support Networks

To better fight UK IP counterfeiting and IP crime, the UKIPO intelligence gateway team collaborates closely with law enforcement, the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit, and the UKIPO IP Crime Coordinator network. The UKIPO Intelligence Gateway team, including intelligence officers and managers, receives advanced training by the UK College of Policing to maintain the quality and consistency of UK IP crime reporting.

This cross-functional team develops robust intelligence packages, with support from UKIPO financial investigators and intelligence analysts, ensuring accurate referrals for IP crime enforcement across the UK. The wider UKIPO IP Crime Coordinator network provides ongoing intelligence input to bolster investigations and build stronger cases against IP crime.

Public Access: Streamlined Reporting for All

The UKIPO urges the public, IP rights owners, and enforcement professionals to report any suspected IP crimes or counterfeit products directly via the UKIPO IP crime reporting gateway on the UKIPO official website. This collaborative effort is vital to combat IP infringement and strengthen UK IP crime enforcement nationwide.

As IP crimes become increasingly sophisticated, it’s never been more crucial to take action. Abou Naja Company stands ready to support brands and rights owners in safeguarding their intellectual property. If you suspect your products or brand are being targeted, contact us at [email protected].
