  1. Search. We check that your mark is available before you file.
  2. Filing. We prepare and file your application with the Ministry of Economy, classifying your goods or services correctly.
  3. Examination. The Ministry reviews the application. We respond to any objections it raises.
  4. Publication. Your mark is published for a fixed opposition period. We handle any objections filed by third parties.
  5. Registration. Once cleared, your trademark is registered for 10 years from the filing date, renewable for further 10 year terms.
  6. Monitoring. We track renewal dates and watch the market and gazette for infringement.

WHY REGISTER YOUR TRADEMARK IN THE UAE?

Trademark registration in the UAE is the difference between a brand you can lose and one you can defend. Here's what it secures.

  • Legal ownership you can enforce. When you register your mark, you get exclusive rights over the mark. Without trademark registration, you may lose the ability to prevent competitors from copying your name, logo, or catchphrase.
  • A base for GCC expansion. Most brands moving into the gulf start in the UAE before expanding into Saudi, Qatar, or Kuwaits. Once a mark is registered in the UAE, it grants the user a filing history with a priority basis that makes the subsequent registrations faster and stronger.
  • Stronger standing with investors and partners. Distributors, franchisees, and investors view trademarks as proof that a brand has acquired distinctiveness and is not merely a name that can be taken back. A registered trademark is an absolute proof of that.
  • Border protection against counterfeits. Once registered, you may record your mark with UAE Customs. As opposed to chasing after them post-fact, this allows the authorities to halt counterfeit products before they enter the country or leave it.
  • One filing, full coverage. UAE registration protects your brand across all seven emirates and every free zone. You don't need separate filings for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or any free zone authority.

Our UAE Trademark Services

Trademark registration in the UAE is rarely a one-time task. Here's how we support your brand at every stage:

Search & Clearance: Before you invest in a new brand, it's essential to confirm your trademark is available, distinctive, and enforceable. Our team conducts thorough searches across the UAE Ministry of Economy database and WIPO's Global Brand Database, and checks for unregistered marks in use across domains, social media, and e-commerce platforms.

  • Clearance search across national and international databases, correctly classified under the Nice Classification system
  • Similarity and risk assessment to help you avoid refusals, oppositions, or costly disputes later
  • Common law search for unregistered marks already in use in the market
  • Registrability assessment against UAE legal standards, with advice on any challenges we expect
  • Competitor and trend analysis to support how you position the brand

With a rigorous search process upfront, you gain clarity, reduce legal risk, and file with confidence.

Filing, Prosecution & Registration: A precise, well planned application is what separates a smooth registration from months of delay. We manage your UAE filing directly with the Ministry of Economy, and coordinate parallel filings across the GCC where needed.

  • Direct national filing in the UAE, plus the wider GCC, through our own offices
  • Response to office actions and examiner objections, handled by our team, not left to you
  • Classification strategy that avoids the most common causes of refusal
  • Registration secured as an enforceable right, not just a filed application

Filing your trademark with us is a strategic safeguard for your brand's growth, not just a form submitted to a government office.

Maintenance & Renewals: Securing a trademark is only the first step. Keeping it protected requires ongoing attention and timely renewals, and a single missed deadline can mean losing rights you spent years building.

  • Renewal management, handled end to end so nothing lapses by accident
  • Deadline monitoring, tracked proactively across every filing in your portfolio
  • Transparent fee management, with no surprise costs at renewal time
  • Centralized record keeping, so your UAE and GCC filings stay in sync

Your trademarks stay active, compliant, and protected for as long as you need them.

Recordals: Your trademark is a business asset, and the ownership record attached to it needs to stay accurate. We handle every update required to keep your registration legally sound.

  • Ownership updates for mergers, name changes, and corporate restructuring
  • Licensing agreements structured and recorded to support monetization of your mark

Your portfolio stays current, enforceable, and ready for any future transaction or expansion.

Appeals, Oppositions, Enforcement & Litigation: Protecting a trademark often means defending it. When a challenge or an infringement comes up, we act on your behalf, not after the fact.

  • Office action responses that resolve examiner concerns and keep applications on track
  • Opposition and appeal representation before the Ministry and, where needed, before UAE courts
  • Enforcement against infringement and counterfeiting, from cease and desist letters through to customs recordal, raids, and litigation
