Paris Convention
The Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, adopted in 1883 in Paris, France, is a foundational and historically significant international treaty in the field of intellectual property. It is administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and has been revised several times over the years to adapt to new developments.
The Paris Convention deals with "industrial property" in a broad sense. It covers patents, trademarks, industrial designs, utility models, trade names, geographical indications, and the prevention of unfair competition.
The Convention’s key provisions are grouped into three main principles: national treatment, priority rights, and common regulations.
